A NEW CLUSTER FOR PEACE IS BORN

A significant chapter was written in the journey toward peace building, The UN Global Advocates of Peace Flag Initiative officially kicked off, with the United Nations Nigeria serving as the first “cluster” in a campaign projected to reach 10,000 communities and over 1,000,000 clusters across Africa.

Children’s Voices on Canvas:
One of the most poignant moments was watching over 100 secondary school children were given brushes to paint what peace looks like for them. Their canvases were alive with many colors, emotions, and creativity—images of unity, hope, families together, laughter, and tranquility.

These artworks reminded everyone present that peace isn’t an abstract idea—it’s what the next generation sees, dreams, and deserves.

The Unveiling & the UN Global Peace Flag Hoisting

The day’s highlight came when the global Peace Flag was hoisted—beginning at the United Nations as the first symbolic cluster. The Office of the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Nigeria Mohamed Malick Fall who is representing the United Nations secretary General António Guterres gave his message of peace to the world that “one of the best ways to preach the message of peace is to plant it in the mind and subconscious of youngsters through a symbolic gestures that propels actions towards peace.”

Representatives from UNDP, UN Women, WIPO , IPCR , UNODC European Union, diplomats, civil society organizations, Women in Peace & Security watched as this flag rose as a visible symbol: that peace begins with a personal choice, commitment, and courage.

Queen Hadassah’s Call to Action

Her Majesty Queen Hadassah Gloriana Allaputa, convener of the UN Global Advocates of Peace flag initiative, delivered a moving speech that cut through the festivity and action plan .She spoke of the global roadmap ahead: that beyond today’s flag hoisting , the campaign will activate clusters—nations , states, local governments, places of worship, workplaces, military and paramilitary institutions, every home—to bear witness to peace. She emphasized that when citizens personalize peace, equip with skills and communities walk together for peace, the grip of insecurity weakens.

we are committing to the Social Impacts to reduce Crime & Vices , Engaged youth with meaningful trainings , skills , economic opportunities leaves less room for idle hands. Capacity building and empowerment will help many young people begin small businesses and creative enterprises.

Unity & Trust: Raising the Peace Flag across clusters helps communities identify with peace making it harder for division to take root.
Youth Empowerment: Children who painted today are the first young peace advocates ; they voice hope, and that voice carries power.

Our strategy in cultivating the culture of peace is through children and families as the smallest but most powerful foundation of peace, peace begins with you and in the family, that’s why we have introduced family peace clusters and young peace advocates says Queen Hadassah

  2. Expression of Earnest Interest in Advancing the Global Peace Flag Mission.
    Dear Queen Hadassah Ibinyingi Allaputa,
    President, IFP World Family Initiative
    Convener, Global Peace Flag Initiative

With profound respect and a deep sense of commitment, I, Dr. Opadonu Moses Olufemi, alongside my dedicated team, write to express our earnest interest in being an active part of the Global Peace Flag Mission—a historic and transformative movement born from the symbolic flag hoisting at the United Nations House.

We are greatly inspired by the vision to spread this emblem of hope and unity to 10,000 communities, establish 1 million peace clusters, and see 5 million peace flags raised across nations, schools, places of worship, workplaces, and homes. We firmly believe that peace must not only be pursued but also made visible—and this initiative captures that truth in its most powerful form.

Our team is deeply aligned with the mission to rekindle hope and foster harmony, one flag, one family, one community at a time. We are ready to collaborate, mobilize, and lead efforts within our region to ensure that this symbol of peace is carried far and wide.

We kindly request the full guidelines and next steps to enable us to commence the peace flag hoisting in our area and contribute meaningfully to this global cause.

    With peace, purpose, and gratitude,
